ARE YOU MEASURING YOUR SITE PERFORMANCE?

Web analytics is the collection, measurement and analysis of website data with the aim of understanding a users journey to and on the site. Web Analytics tools are becoming more sophisticated in their data collection and track ability options providing website owners with a whole range of available data to understand the path to conversion.

Web Analytic Key Performance Indicators or KPIs need to be based on overall business goals and aligned with the role the website plays in achieving those goals. KPIs are a means of dialogue and they should not be used blindly or without question. How we are we using our KPIs are more important than the scores they are actually attaining. How are you certain you are making a good use of them?

  • How many visitors does your site have per month? How did they get to your site?
  • What were they looking for? Did they find what they needed?
  • Do they see the pages you want them to see? What are their favorite pages?
  • How many did what you wanted them to do (buy, register, fill in a form)? Is that good, bad? How does that compare with the competition? Can you improve it?
